1901 Two Volume Set "Lamb's Tales From Shakespeare" by Charles & Mary Lamb, with into and additions by Dr. Furnivall and illustrations by Harold Copping.
Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd; Publishers by appointment to their Majesties The King, and Queen Alexandria, Printed in New York. Bound in original white cloth covered boards with gold stamped picture & lettering.
Both covers show soiling and rubbing on the edges, at corners and spine ends. Volume I has a split in the attachment of the binding after two pages, so pages the following three pages are loose, while all other pages are firmly attached. Volume one shows the start of a split (see photos for all carefully)
Both have many wonderfully detailed black and white illustration plates throughout, some are highly detailed etchings surrounded by an embossed border and a description of the art in red printed on the thin protective paper opposite the art.
Hardcover. Overall very good condition for age, no jackets (do not believe these even came with a jacket) & they are very heavy. (together, they are over 5 pounds!)
These 1901 editions with the added content from Dr. Furnivall and Illustrations by Harold Copping are highly sought after as having the finest content of all the editions printed.
